I’ve been sewing for a few months and I like to think of myself as an “advanced beginner,” whatever that means. However, we all need to start somewhere. Like somewhere simple. If you try to start with something more complex than you are ready for, it may just turn you off to sewing altogether. And there really is a plethora of projects that are simple, useful, and can be made to suit your needs. Table settings, napkins, “un”paper towels, table runners, scarves, headbands… the list can go on and on and on.
Since I have two daughters that I really enjoy sewing for, I decided to make them baby doll carriers (also known as Mei Tais). It’s a quick sew and fairly simple and straightforward. As a double bonus, I was able to sew up two in a day for my littles to play with. And who can resist an emphatic “THANK YOU for new toy mommy!”. Not I. Surely, not I.
I used some scrap fabric that I had and came up with these!

This carrier can also be used on their backs as well, but my girls were losing patience with me….
